If you are traveling outside Alaska, have purchased a
vehicle, and want to have the transaction processed prior
to coming back to Alaska.
you will need the following:
- The ownership document:
- Manufacturer Certificate of
Origin (MCO) or
- Manufacturer Statement of
Origin (MSO) or
- Title - signed off and/or
re-assigned correctly
- Completed

- Fees due
- DMV registration fee
(see Fees and Taxes)
- $15.00 DMV title fee
- $15.00 DMV lien recording fee
- Tax due (see
Fees and Taxes)
- $30.00 processing fee
- An IM test waiver - if
vehicle is to reside in the Municipality of
Anchorage (MOA), or be used to commute to
Anchorage, you will need a waiver. You
will need to get the waiver from the MOA first.
If the vehicle is 2004 or older (2005 and 2006
are exempt), it will need an
Outside Use Waiver form from MOA. To obtain the
waiver, you will need proof (ie. oil
change document) of the location of the vehicle
outside Alaska.

Once the transaction is complete,
all documents
will be mailed back to you.
Please, do not mail certified letters. If you need
your transaction returned overnight, include a pre-paid
envelope with your transactions.
