The residence address listed on the application for title & registration (section 4) determines whether or not taxes are required prior to registering (renewing) a vehicle in the State of Alaska.  Next, check the TAX CHARTS under TAXABLE LOCATION. If the residence city is listed, look for the VEHICLE TYPE and then look for the vehicle model year to determine the tax amount. If the vehicle year is not on the chart, use the tax for a 1998 model year.
